Rose Bud mayor lays out plans for Christmas season

Rose Bud officials have decided to start the city's Christmas activities on the second Sunday of December again this year because "it went so well last year," according to Mayor Shawn Gorham
Gorham laid out the plans Monday night at the Rose Bud City Council meeting, starting with the Christmas parade on Dec. 8. He said lineup will start at 4:30 p.m. at the Rose Bud Assembly of God Church and the parade will start at 5 p.m.
"We want to stress that we welcome horses and everything with the horses but you have to unload at the church and then you have to get your trailers and transportation to the school district arena parking lot, where we will drive to, so that you are not going back through town on your animals in the dark and take the risk of getting rear-ended by anybody," Gorham said.

He said there is no exact theme for the parade this year but it will be lighted and candy will be thrown out. There also will be an award for the best float in the parade. Voting will take place on the town's Facebook page and the prize will be a $50 gift certificate to the Rose Bud Better Business of choice.
Participants are being asked to call their floats in to the city so that the number of floats can be prepared for on parade night. 
A second contest will be a storefront decorating contest. The winner will be chosen the same weekend but that prize is a free membership to the 2025 Rose Bud Better Business program.
The Rose Bud Community Christmas Service will be Dec. 11 at the Rose Bud Assembly of God. The time will be posted on the city's Facebook page as soon as it is decided, Gorham said. Preacher Chris Miller from Rose Bud Baptist Church will give the message. Fellowship and refreshments will follow the service.
